The Bahrainisch-Deutsche Gesellschaft (BDG, or in translation from the Arabic name also known as Bahrain-German Friendship Society) has been established in 2000 in the Kingdom of Bahrain with the blessings and full support from H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a network for Bahraini and German business people with business interests in Bahrain and Germany.

BDG members are located in Bahrain and Germany and hold senior positions in international businesses, the medical field and public and charity sectors. Members benefit from an excellent mix of international relations and networking opportunities.

The BDG is supported by the German Embassy to the Kingdom of Bahrain and works and co-operates with other networks in Bahrain such as the American Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Bahrain-British Business Forum, the Rotary Club. Many of our members are also members of other societies in Bahrain. The BDG reaches out to other associations in Germany, such as the GHORFA (Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and abroad, such as the Goethe Institute located in several Middle Eastern states.

If you would like to know more about joining the BDG, you are very welcome to attend one of our events. We look forward to meeting you.

ARTEKO (www.arteko-ing.com), a member company of the Bahrain-German Friendship Society has initiated the project Recycling for Charity. Waste management and recycling is a hot topic and already a key concern for many companies in Bahrain and for Bahrain as a nation.

Recycling-for Charity is a simple way to do something good in two ways! ARTEKO provides containers, free of charge for domestic application, where recycable material can be deposited. ARTEKO will later pick up the collected material for further processing and sell-on to the world market. BD15 of each ton collected and sold will be given to local charity funds. Please see attached leaflet Recycling for Charity for more information and contact details.
The Bahrain German Society would like to see this initiative promoted to companies, schools, kindergardens etc to start making Bahrain a cleaner place to live.
